In 1 Corinthians 6:9, we read about several kinds of people will not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. One of which is the effeminate man.
The greek word, which translated “effeminate” in the King James Bible is μαλακός. Which was also translated as “soft” in the three other places of the King James Bible.
So we could say that when a man is effeminate he is soft, and such men do not enter the Kingdom of God.
What makes a soft, effeminate, man?
Vines expository states that a soft man is one that is “guilty of addiction to sins of the flesh”.
Vine also adds the word “voluptuous” to the expository.
According Webster’s 1828 dictionary this means “indulging to excess in sensual gratifications”.
We can come to the conclusion that an effeminate man is one who gives into his flesh in excess. Even to the degree of an addiction to its pleasures.
How Effeminacy Infiltrated the Church
The soft Christianity of today is a direct result of ignoring Christ’s manliness.
The church, as a whole, only focuses on the attributes of Jesus. Such as His lovingness, gentleness, and meekness.
While at the same time ignoring the identity of Jesus. He is the Victor, the King, and the Conqueror.
The Answer to Effeminacy in the Church
Jesus is kind and gentle to his sheep but fierce to those who push and peddle evil.
In a world were evil exists, Christian men need to be aggressive and bold against that evil.
In God’s new covenant , men are to spirituality slaughter the forces of evil. We do this through the confidence we have by the sword of the Spirit.
The church needs to be on the offensive. Letting evil thrive as long as it leaves us alone is an awful tactic.
Evil will only tolerate God’s people until it outnumbers the Church.
We must share the gospel and have humility and compassion toward others. We are to do this while we stand rigid in truth and sharp toward evil.
Brothers, we must tame our flesh to keep ourselves from becoming soft like the world.
Feed your spirit daily. Pray, read the Bible, and put on the full armor of God.
“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”
