Don’t Be a Loser; Embrace Optimism.
Stop acting like Christ loses and start believing that He wins.
The Church is the body of Christ and Christ wins but the majority of the Church plays the loser today.
As if Jesus, our King, is not victorious in conquering sin and death.
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? (1 Corinthians 15:55 KJV)
If death doesn't win, who does? Our Lord Jesus Christ! Two verses later, Paul tells us:
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57 KJV)
We have victory because Christ is the victor, and we are his body!
The state of modern Christianity is not acting the part of the victor, but the victim.
And one which is letting evil grow worse and worse with each passing day!
If you are a child of God, you are in His covenant of Grace and have the victory that overcomes the world.
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. [1 John 5:4 KJV]
This is great news! We must be optimistic, we must build again for Christ, we must play the part of the victory.
Be bold, for Christ has won and his enemies are being made his footstool day after day!
And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. (Hebrews 10:11-13 KJV)
Is our Lord, and King, Jesus present in body on earth?
No, which tells me that his enemies are still becoming his footstool.
Who is to do this? God, of course, has all the power and authority to do so.
But then there is us, the Church, which is tasked with teaching the nations to do all the commands of our King Jesus Christ.
This takes me back to my favorite quote, which I’ve changed. Pray because it all depends on God, but work like it all depends on you.
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20 KJV)
Christ gave us this mission through his power.
Christ’s power does not fail, it does not grow dim; it conquers and destroys evil.
God packed the old testament full of His victor personality.
O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory. (Psalm 98:1 KJV)
Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob. Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us. (Psalm 44:4-5 KJV)
Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies. (Psalm 108:13 KJV)
Brothers, we must not forget that Christ is King and not only over the Church and spiritual matters, but all the earth!
Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: (Ephesians 1:20-21 KJV)
Have confidence in Christ and be optimistic that our King will not fail.
The Church has done great things for our Lord and Savior in centuries past.
It’s time we pick up our part in the great commission and become a Church of victors through Christ.
